Tree for Free – Spring 2026

WE HAVE A FREE TREE FOR YOU!

We are delighted to announce that the Long Branch Neighbourhood Association (LBNA) is once again able to offer free trees to our community.

Because this program is funded by the City of Toronto, trees ordered under Tree for Free are to be planted on private property within the City of Toronto. 

Pick-up Location: Colonel Sam Smith Park

Time: Saturday May 30th at Colonel Sam Smith Park, 9:30 AM–12:00 PM

This program supports the City of Toronto’s 40% tree canopy coverage target by encouraging tree planting and tree care on private property in Toronto.

Your order must be submitted by: Thurs May 15th at Midnight

You have a choice of 15 native tree and shrub species.

There is a limit of two (2) trees per property.

Large Canopy Trees:

  • White Pine
  • Red Maple
  • Basswood
  • Bur Oak

Medium Trees:

  • Paper Birch
  • Eastern Red Cedar
  • White Cedar

Small Trees:

  • Serviceberry
  • Redbud

Shrubs:

  • Alternate-leaf Dogwood
  • Elderberry
  • Nannyberry
  • Meadowsweet
  • Pussy Willow
  • Witch Hazel

Please note that we will give away any unclaimed trees starting at 12:05pm to walk-ups.

For the largest selection and to make sure you don’t miss out on your preferred species, order as soon as you can.
