Last month the Long Branch Neighbourhood Association (LBNA) tallied the Fight the Height Fund donations and the news is good. We are one third the way to achieving our goal to fund the OLT court case. Thank you to everyone who donated to stop this unreasonable development.
Let’s be clear – pointing to the lack of affordable housing in Toronto as rational for over built condominium towers in no ways solves Toronto’s housing problem. It actually ‘unhouses’ current rental tenants and creates more precarious housing for others. The City and Province still have time to change course and work with Developers on solutions that create affordable housing for more people while respecting the rights of current Long Branch residents.
It’s time to stop the commodification of housing – Fight the Height. Protect the Shoreline.
