Toronto Pearson Airport is the busiest airport in Canada, handling over 475,000 flights per year. That’s roughly 1,300 flights per day.
You’ve probably noticed planes flying over Long Branch and sometimes the noise from the aircraft is loud enough to make it difficult to carry on a conversation outdoors.
Here’s why you don’t hear planes all the time.
Because the prevailing wind direction is from the west, over 95% of flights in or out of Pearson are from runways 6R/24L and 06L/24R.
The two north-south runways, 15R/33L and 15L/33R are generally only used when winds are from the north or south, but these runways involve flight paths that take flights over Long Branch.

Here’s what you can do
The Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA), which is the organization that administers Pearson, has two tools you can use to submit complaints about noise from aircraft.
The Webtrak service allows you to search for specific flight information in real time so you can complain about a specific single flight you found to be overly noisy. You can submit a complaint directly from this online tool.
