Tree Stewardship

Thank-you to those of you who picked up your free trees and shrubs from our recent Tree for Free event.  Here is a short video (select image on right) on how to plant your trees and shrubs, if you have not yet got them in the ground, and some tips on how to care for them over the next several months.

Our next Tree for Free event will be in September. Registration will open in late July or early August.   Stay tuned

Let’s get planting!

Urban trees have an immense impact on our daily life by providing cooling effects, clean air, and aesthetic beauty to our neighborhoods. We enjoy being in the park, but we hardly know the trees surrounding us that provide high value in urban settlements. Let’s ditch the screen and reconnect with nature, and explore trees.

Our tree stewardship lead, who graduated from the master of forest conservation program at the University of Toronto will be guiding a one-hour tour.  They will teach participants how to identify different deciduous tree species, what makes each of them different plus share some interesting and unique facts about tree and answer all questions.  Be prepared to have some old myths busted with scientific facts.

Please update you Llist of Interests, from your My Profile link below, by selecting “Community Walks” and you will be notified the next time a walk is scheduled.
