Description
- Meadowsweet is a large upright herbaceous perennial shrub that enjoys moist soil with partial shade. White spikelet flower heads bloom mid-summer and into the early fall. Seed pods create unique winter interests. Great for boggy areas or soil that is consistently moist. Serves as a larval host for the Spring Azur butterfly.
- It is straightforward to care for and quite hardy. It adapts well to most soil and climate types. Its hardiness to freezing stands down to 5°F (-15°C).
- Meadowsweet can be planted in fall and spring. Dig a hole more or less 24 inches (60 cm) deep and mix the garden soil with soil mix. Water at regular intervals during the 1st year after planting.
